About Us

The Cardiff Taxi Co-operative Limited was formed by 8 licensed taxi drivers in the summer of 2018, after months of careful planning and preparation we launched as DRIVE on St David's Day 2019.

DRIVE was set up in response to the way self employed drivers were being treated by the more established and traditional taxi firms in the city. We all felt that there was a fairer way of doing things, where drivers could feel in complete control of their own destiny.

With the help of the GMB Union, who put us in touch with the Wales Co-operative Centre, we formed the company as a fully constituted co-operative registered with COOP UK. We run the company on a not-for-profit basis so that the member-drivers get to keep more of what they earn, instead of paying extortionate fees and commissions to company owners and shareholders.

Every decision is made by the membership in a democratic way in the best interests of the company and its members. If you are a fully licensed Cardiff taxi driver and you would like to know more about DRIVE and how to become a member please email us
